A New Beginning

Sometimes in our lives we need new beginnings, in a project, a job, redecorating our home, the new year, how we look, a new hair style, maybe a new relationship, or just a new beginning in a current relationship.  The question may be, can we have that new beginning?  The answer probably depends on WHY we want the new beginning and how determined we are to have it.

The Most Romatic Proposal

Is your idea of a romantic proposal one presented in TV, at a sporting event, at a romantic dimly lit restaurant, on a picnic, or a spur of the moment question?  Any of these are romantic for sure, especially when you are in love.  Valentine’s Day is coming soon and many proposals are being planned right now. 

How about the proposal in the movie “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”.  That was more spur of the moment, getting up the nerve to ask, and the excitement of having the question asked.  Then reality hit and the difficulties of their relationship made it seem nearly impossible to make it to the altar.  Fortunately it had a happy ending.  We all want that happy ending, don’t we?

This morning I saw for the ?? time the commercial for Progresso Potato Soup where the gentleman has prepared this amazing soup for the lady he loves so he can ask her to marry him.  She gets so distracted by the great soup (do you really think that would happen?) she doesn’t see the engagement ring he is offering her.  Then his distraction for the delicious soup distracts him from his plan.  It certainly makes the soup look like something you would want to buy, doesn’t it?  Well, the simplicity of the meal, but the love and care the gentleman took to prepare it, set the table and make it a special time to ask the lady he loves to spend her life with him makes it a romantic proposal in my opinion.

I think my favorite proposal is the one from “Runaway Bride” where Maggie comes to ask Ike to marry her.  Her words in my opinion say it all for what a relationship encounters, but works through if you are truly committed to each other and their marriage.  If you haven’t heard this proposal listen to the end of the movie.  The following scenes and the background music speak volumes as well.

Relieve The Stress

Is Your Partner Feeling On The Edge?

In my opinion one of the most romantic, loving, and caring actions you can do for your partner is a back rub, or a complete body massage.  When life is stressful and nothing seems to make it less so, you can help your mate find that place to relax, ease the stress and get back to normal. 

A hot bath is a good way to begin this romantic encounter.  While your partner is in the bath, set the scene.  Turn down the lights,  put on relaxing music, light the candles, and spray some cologne to scent the air.  Set up a comfortable spot to easily do a massage, on the bed or on the floor.  Remember the body lotion, too.

When your mate is feeling so relaxed by the hot bath lead them to the massage area.  Get some lotion on your hands and be sure to warm your hands then start on the upper back and shoulders.  Massage and lotion the arms and the hands.  If you know about pressure points use that knowledge to work on releasing the tightness in the back and neck.  Spend some time on the neck and also don’t forget the head.  Going back to the back and hips and buttocks will feel so good to your partner.  Rub the back of the legs and the calves and then spend some time on the feet.  It may be easier to work on the feet if your partner is now on their back. 

The Foot Massage

There are so many pressure points on the bottom of the feet.  When you rub just under the toes it can release tension in the neck and shoulders.   Maybe you want to just do a general rub on the feet with lots of lotion.  Work on the top of the feet as well and the ankles.  Remember how good it feels to have your legs rubbed.   

Finishing The Massage

Moving up the body you can spend a little more time on the hands, arms and shoulders.  The face is another place to gently rub.  If your partner suffers from sinus problems you can do a sinus strip to relieve the pressure.   Keep lots of lotion on your hands and stroke gently and lovingly all over the body.  Use your imagination and put yourself in your partner’s place, then do the same for our mate. Your partner may enjoy a wonderful relaxing nap while you are doing this, or maybe it is an opportunity to speak  loving, encouraging words you both need to hear.

This tip will be one that has long lasting romantic results.  You know what “Romance” translates to the men, right?  Well, build it and you will not be sorry.

Romantic Picnic

A Picnic Despite The Weather

Surprise the special person in your life – set up a romantic picnic even if the temperature says it is too cold to be outside, or it is raining, snowing, or the wind is blowing.

When your partner is out of  the house or you have arranged to have them out of the house for a little while,  find a place for your children to be and confine the pets away from your indoor picnic area. 

You can plan this picnic ahead of time so you have certain foods and drinks that mean “Romance” to you and your partner or you can go with what is already in the house.  If necessary clear an area in your home where you can put down a blanket and maybe a couple of pillows.  If  you have a picnic basket fill it or just lay out your best dishes, crystal, and silver with the food and drink you have selected.  Put on special music and WAIT. 

When you partner comes home give them a moment to regroup, then lead them to their indoor picnic.  By the way, it is probably a good idea to be sure your partner has no other obligations for awhile so they can relax and enjoy the picnic.
